Set A Goal And Stay Focused

Set A Goal And Stay Focused

Make a plan Know where you’re headed & what you want. Focus!

To be focused is to set a goal. it seems that most people don’t have a clear direction. I know I was in that position for the longest time. I was pulled in various directions trying to figure out my highest priorities – especially once the kids graduated from high school. Being focused can be a challenge if you don’t set a goal.

People don’t necessarily know what they’re working toward, which can make it a little more difficult to gauge success or failure.

Lack of focus can cost you money, time, confusion and more. I mean, how do you know the best direction? Or if you have even gotten anywhere? Time can pass by quickly and then when you’re older, you’ve realized you were coasting through life without goals, or a plan and wished you would have accomplished more!

It’s time for you to chart a path from where you are right now to where you want to be. Without a plan, you’re just wondering around in circles and burning valuable time.

OK. So now what…

To Set A Goal Requires Commitment

You might already realize this, but to set a goal doesn’t matter if you aren’t willing to commit to seeing it through. It’s the equivalent of coming up with a flight plan but never setting foot in the cockpit. Following through on a goal can be challenging and it can certainly be scary, if it is big enough. But if you’re not happy with your life, you’re the only one that can change it. And while you’re at it, dream big while you set a goal(s). What is it that you truly desire?

Are You Willing to Take Responsibility?

Most people fail at reaching their goals because they neglect to change their mindset.Could this possibly be you?

It’s easy to make excuses for why you aren’t achieving your goals. You may tell yourself that you don’t have the time or money to pursue your goals. You may tell yourself that you were dealt a bad hand in life and you can’t do anything to change it.

You have to be willing to set these excuses aside and take responsibility for your life. You have your life in your hands. What you choose to do with it is your responsibility.

There are many successful entrepreneurs who could have easily used their handicaps as an excuse, but didn’t. Some are even powerful motivational speakers! Just Google them. Sean Stephenson comes to mind. And there’s the guy with no arms or legs to speak of (forgot his name) Amazing stories! There are a lot of motivational videos, books and podcasts that you can listen to if you need motivation in the right path. Google and YouTube can be your best friend when searching. 🙂

Know What Your Finish Line Looks Like

To meet a goal, you have to be focused on the finish line. It’s easier to binge on Netflix than it is to work toward you goals. That’s why it’s important that you have a visual reminder of the finish line once you’ve set your goal. This finish line image can be a picture of the island where you’ll go on vacation after you’ve gotten out of debt or a collage of what your home office will look like when you finally earn enough to quit your job. Focusing on your finish line keeps you motivated and increases your chances of success. What will be your reward once you’ve met your goal?

Becoming goal focused can be challenging and does require discipline. But if what you want is important to you, then you’ll find a way to reach your goals and live the life you want.
